Dr. Fisher’s Journey as a Chiropractor

Chiropractic had influenced Dr. Fisher’s life many times before choosing it as his profession. Like many who enter the Chiropractic field, the young Dr. Fisher was a patient. A football injury prevented him from straightening his neck. “Trying to practice was miserable. The coaches recommended that I get with a doctor before the upcoming game. However, medication proved to be ineffective. A friend recommended that I should get an adjustment from his aunt, who was a chiropractor. The treatment alleviated the stiffness in my neck in seconds.”

In turn, Dr. Fisher was able to provide his son Uriah, an all-state athlete and former pitcher at OSU with care due to the hard knocks he endured on the field and on the court. Dr. Fisher’s mother, as a child, had fallen while running along a section of boxcars. The medical doctors said that she would never walk again. Chiropractic care restored her ability to walk and she later became a "jitterbug" champion. Dr. Fisher has a deep sense of gratitude and faith in this profession.

What separates Fisher Chiropractic Clinic from the competition?

There is no comprehensive spinal care without spinal manipulation.  Neither medication, physical therapy, nor massage can duplicate the effects of joint manipulation.  And yet Dr. Fisher and his assistant respectfully incorporate physio therapy, massage even acupuncture into our patients care.  As opposed to the competition Dr. Fisher offers various forms of manipulation techniques in his choice of therapeutics to accommodate the patients condition.  Not the one size fits all approach.   Dr. Fisher uses observation in his diagnostic approach to treatment.  (You can't treat what you can't see).  Therefore, to fully utilize our complementary therapies we have our patients expose the area of involvement.

Does joint manipulation hurt?  Ask a kid that 'pops' their own neck and back.  He will tell you that the area doesn't feel good until they feel the joint move.  In other words, it feels good to be relieved of joint fixation.  Usually, all extremity adjusting techniques result in an audible release.

Many chiropractors are relying on percussive instrumentation for the joint manipulation.  Let me explain that those techniques do not set a displaced joint nor is the percussive manipulation designed to do so.  The use of a percussive instrument is an 'energy release' technique and does have its place in therapeutics, but it doesn't take the place of manual manipulation.  Percussion eliminates the feedback loop experienced by the doctor and patient.  That is, neither the doctor nor the patient can 'feel' the fixated joint set to place.  Much like the kid who 'pops' his neck...  'no pop, no help'.  However, for our rhematic patients we offer the percussive techniques too.
